ABOUT
Shefali is a poet-performer-researcher from India, based in Austria. Raised in a small hill town of Himachal Pradesh, they received their undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from the University of Calcutta, followed by, among other things, a year-long research stint on the British-Caribbean writer Jean Rhys at Trinity College Dublin. Shefali is currently a final-year PhD candidate at the University of Vienna, exploring the intersections of poetry performance and theatre in the UK, as part of the “Poetry Off the Page” project. Their broader research interests include british literature, gender & queer studies, postcolonial studies, intermedial studies, poetry and performance, as well as modernist short fiction.
Shefali’s artistic practice goes back to 2016. their poetry can be found in publications such as Poetry Wales, kitchen table quarterly and The Bombay Review. They have performed their work at the National Poetry Festival Kolkata, Vienna Literature Festival, Kultursommer Wien, and elsewhere.
